Last week we got to hear from several athletes on how their experiences were with Open Workouts 15.1 and 15.1A.  This week we check in with a couple of the coaches.  Jon and Anna Longdon are veteran Crossfit athletes and coaches here at Duke City Crossfit.  Collectively, they have 8 years of Crossfit Open experience. 10711062_875972445774633_7630887650646748118_n

When you heard the announcement for this week’s workout, what did you think?

I loved it. Chest-2-Bar pull-ups are my thing.  I knew I could get out of the round of 16s and I did.  Last year I was 3 C2B pull-ups away.  This year I made it.

How did the workout go for you?

It went well. I achieved my goal. Once I got into the 18s I was just happy to be there.

Does it feel different doing the Open workouts rather than doing a regular WOD?  Why or why not?

Yes, I put more pressure on myself to perform well. Also you get to compare yourself to people around the world.

When you heard the announcement for this week’s workout, what did you think?

I hated it!  I'm not the best at C2B. I don't practice like I should. However, after I did it I was hungry for more!

How did the workout go for you?

It went well. I wanted into those 18s so I did the workout twice!  I still didn't make it. That means I know what I need to work on.

Does it feel different doing the Open workouts rather than doing a regular WOD?  Why or why not?

I get nervous for every wod I do. I put a lot of pressure on myself for the Open. I've calmed down over the years which is good!  My goal every year is to make top 100!  I'm off to a good start this year.
